Topic of Discussion
In this episode, we debuted our first-ever Friendship Beer Flight, sponsored by the awesome folks at Tucked Away Brewing Company! We had the distinct honor of not only talking about Tucked Away and how they’re an amazing member of the Manassas, Virginia community but also trying some of their awesome beers!
Background on Tucked Away Brewing Company
Partners and beer lovers Pete, Graeme, Bryan and Michael turned their passion for home-brewing into a full-scale brewery (partnered with an awesome distillery). Like Lueda and I, they were beer enthusiasts who loved to connect over a pint. The name -- Tucked Away -- speaks not only to their physical location but also to the idea that some of the best places are the ones that are off the beaten path and require an adventure to reach.
Their logo also alludes to the name of the brewery. The maze symbolizes the odyssey of finding that amazing beer. The gold star is reminiscent of both of their military service and the success in reaching your goal. As they like to say, “There are many paths you can take to find the perfect beer and Tucked Away will never steer you wrong!”
I also love that they have an awesome Mug Club! For $120, you get
An extra four ounces for the cost of a regular pint
Exclusive access to new releases
Cash back and special discounts
$10 during your birthday month (which, if you’ve listened to the podcast, you know how important birthdays are to Lueda and I)
Enrollment in their referral program
A special party for mug club members
These mugs, guys, are beautiful. And, they keep the mug there so you don’t have to tote it around.
We also love how much they do to create community in their space and highlight the talented people in their local community. Just looking at their event calendar, you’ll see everything from Indoor Disc Golf and Cornhole to local restaurants and food trucks taking over for a night to providing tasty food to accompany their delicious beer. They also have live music! All of these offers are such a great way to make a brewery not only a place to get a beer, but a great place to connect with others. And, when we spoke with Bryan on the Tucked Away team, he said they wanted it to be like the bar in Cheers -- a place to go where everybody knows your name.
They also recently partnered with Falls Church Distillers! FCD creates bourbon and whiskies and the barrels are often used for the barrel-aged, special releases that Tucked Away offers throughout the year. They’re continuing to expand their operations by offering craft canned cocktails to go (with the whisky and bourbon supplied from FCD, obviously); they’re also expanding their outdoor seating -- which I know Lueda loves -- and it’ll include Adirondacks, a deck and more nature to make it seem like a little oasis in the midst of the business park in which they’re located. Eventually, they’d like to become a regional brewery and have a larger space for even bigger events and community opportunities.
